The King of Cartoons

It's the end of October and right around this time, I usually post something related to Halloween. Sadly, I don't know whether Hurricane Sandy (right in my path) will knock out my power, so a big, sprawling post is a no-go for now. (UPDATE: Not 15 minutes before finishing up this entry, BOOM! Cable went out. The power went about an hour later. I got power back on Wednesday, but the Internet didn't return until 11pm Thursday night.)

I went to NYCC earlier in the month and I have a grand entry to write up for it...but not now. Soon. But since election time is almost upon us, I guess this is as good a time as any to announce my candidacy for my latest run for office.

That office? The King of Cartoons.

There's the previous king. Bask in his glory. Sadly, his time is coming to an end and I wish to run for his spot. It's not a difficult job. I just wear a crown and travel door to door and play cartoons to anyone who lets me inside.

For those of you who wish to call my bluff, I will now play a cartoon for you all. And keeping in the Halloween spirit, I'll show you a trailer for one of the worst movies I've seen in recent memory. No, not Birdemic, but it's up there.

It's a movie called Foodfight! Made in 2003 but unreleased until now, it has a troubled history. Created as the advertising mascot's answer to Who Framed Roger Rabbit, it turned out as a Casablanca ripoff involving a Dogtective (Charlie Sheen pre-Winning mode) and a Squirrel Pilot (Wayne Brady) fighting the evil Brand X to save their supermarket. It helps to know that Brand X is a not-too-subtle stand in for the Nazis. Yeah, black uniforms, the salute, and Jeff Bennett as Not Tim Curry helps), and that you would be shocked to see which mascots made it into the movie.

Mr. Clean? Yep. Mrs. Butterworth? She's there. Punchy, The Hawaiian Punch guy? He's there too. The Energizer Bunny, Twinkie The Kid, The Vlasic Pickle Stork and even Charlie the Starkist Tuna appear at some point or another. There's a bit where Wayne Brady's plane slams into the tree that clearly belongs to the Keebler Elfs, but thankfully it looks they actually had some dignity intact. One of the more annoying characters is a penguin voiced by Chris Kattan, which I’m pretty sure should’ve been the penguin on the Kid Cuisine box. Spoiler alert, he "dies" about halfway through the movie and nobody in the audience gave a single fuck about it.

Imagine what this movie would’ve looked like with an actual budget! Well, it still would’ve been awful, but it would’ve looked nicer. Everybody in this movie seems to walk like they’ve just had a seizure, the graphics look would feel right at home on some Windows 95 program, and the puns. Such horrible, licensed food puns! Yes, they use “Spam” as a euphemism several times.

This thing was an hour and a half long, but if I were to compare the pacing to a snail’s pace the snail would want to vomit pus in every orifice on my body for being so insulted. The one site I watched this on (because no way in hell would I pay to watch this) had looped this same horribly animated scene of Dogtective’s girlfriend at least five times, and I wanted to die to make the pain stop. I can think can truly say that I no longer fear hell, for I have watched Foodfight!

Okay, okay, okay. Here's a better cartoon. Axe Cop! Halloween Edition! It's adapted from a webcomic written by a 7 or so year old boy about a cop that wields an axe, and in a minute and a half it is 1051x better than the entirety of Foodfight! Let the cartoon begin!

If I must say, Nick Offerman (aka Ron Fucking Swanson) is THE perfect voice for Axe Cop. Happy Halloween, everyone!

Every Anime Opening Ever Made

My apologies for pretty much taking the month off. I kinda deserved it for working my ass off in December, but expect new stuff in the near future!

Until then, here's a video that's about pretty much what it says: Every Anime Opening Ever Made.

You never realize just how many elements are re-used in anime openings until you watch something like this. Where are all these people running to?!

Sept. 28th: Meh

This is one of those times when I actually have an idea to type down here...but I don't feel like doing so today.

So to continue with this theme I've been creating, here's a video of Jonathan Winters:

and one of Gary Busey:

Sept. 2nd: It's Late and I'm Tired

This subject line defines much of thought process. Why did I do that thing and not think it out first? It was late and I was tired. And so on.

I had a grand entry in the process for today, and then I looked at the clock. My mind said "screw it" and decided to post this video:

Yeah, this montage of Gary Busey's cameo on the Simpsons sums up my current mind set. Hell, I don't even know if I even posted this already. But here it is again if I already did!

Sept. 1st: First of The Month

It's a brand new month and with it, a new set of dreams and goals!

Sadly, I'm too full and tired to type any down tonight, so here's a video I made a few weeks ago to get you through the rest of the day:

Ron Swanson Dances to It's Raining Men! Enjoy!

Aug. 29th: The Hurricane...

Hey folks, you know what I said about that storm the other night? Well, I somehow angered it and it took out my Internet for an indeterminate amount of time.

So as for new posts? Until I get Internet back, don't really expect much outta me. Sorry folks, I'm sad, too.

On the bright side, this is the very first entry I posted while mobile!

Aug. 27th: IT'S RAININ' SIDEWAYS!

Well, kids, the subject line is true. Since Beaming For Bunnies Home Base is stationed on Long Island, I'm currently in the direct path of Hurricane Irene.

I'm somewhere in the...white area.

I'm not worrying, though. My mom's freaked out that we'll lose power and there will be mass panic and yadda yadda yadda. I'm sure I'll be fine, and you'll see another entry for tomorrow. If anything bad happens...you won't.

If any of you are in my position, I hope you all stay safe, stay dry, and stay sane. The masses have been flocking to the food stores these past few days because of the coming apocalypse that won't happen, and if you're able to find bread and water (and not cat food labeled as such), then hooray for you.

New York City has pretty much shut down, and that NEVER happens. Better safe than sorry, I guess. The mayor's trying to cover his ass so another blizzard debacle doesn't happen. Nevertheless, the city's trash collectors have already taken the week off. So, again, nothing to worry about.

Until tomorrow, here's a relevant video:

Aug. 18th: Tom Waits + Cookie Monster = Pure Awesome

It's a little under the wire for August 18th, so here's an awesome video I discovered the other day:

A mashup of Tom Waits and Cookie Monster. They sound so much alike. I think we all know that someone must do the opposite: Synching up Tom Waits videos to "C is For Cookie."

Aug. 13th: The Many Faces of Nyan-Cat

Okay, I never got around to posting my opinion on this for some reason, but here goes.

I freaking love Nyan-Cat.

So dumb, yet so cute and addictive. It's a cat...with a pop tart body...flying through space via a rainbow. All in 8-bit, nyaning all the while. It's kinda awesome. To me, at least. To others, it's a test of endurance before your thoughts turn into nyans and then you can't stop nyaning so you have to nyan your nyans. And as of this writing, the original video has over 31 million nyans.

And like all viral videos, there were numerous knock-offs, many of them just as funny as the original. That's kinda rare, but "Nyan" is pretty much universal.

Here are some of my favorites:

Old-Timey

American

Mexican

Russian

Demonic

Super Mario Bros.

Mario Paint

Live-Action

Swedish

Ron Swanson

Smooth Jazz

And, of course, a 10 hour long version.

If I had any skills as an animator, I'd find some way to sync this up with the Clarissa Explains It All theme song. I mean...come on, Youtube!

Aug. 12th: Meet The Fatheads

So last night, not doing anything really special and staring at nothing like I usually do, I got this random thought:

"Hmm, I wonder if The Fatheads from Rocko's Modern Life is on youtube?"

And sure enough, it is:

Here's a compilation of all the Fatheads segments from the episode "I Have No Son." Fun Fact: The theme song from this show was a direct homage to the one for "You Can't Do That on Television," one of Nickelodeon's earliest hits.

This is truly one of my favorite things from childhood, they really don't make 'em like this anymore. I'll be honest when I say that this episode was the moment I learned the word "solicitor." Such effort & creativity was put into a simple show-within-a-show, I truly wish this was spun-off into a full series. If Joe Murray's reading this: THERE'S STILL TIME. EVERYONE WILL LOVE THIS. GIVE ME FREE STUFF.
And I sure haven't watched this about 15 times since last night. Nope, no siree. Not true. Okay, maybe slightly true.

Sometime in the future I should write an entry about my favorite Rocko episodes. This one's in my top 5.

Aug. 9th: Tommorow's Entry coming soon!

Hey, it's about 10 minutes to midnight, and I'm busy writing an entry right now. But it should be up within two hours and it's gonna count as tomorrow's entry. So here's something to tide you over til then:

Aug. 2nd: The Best Cat Video Ever of The Day

You down in the dumps today? Need something to make your life just a smidge better? Then check out this video of a guy singing about his cat!

Thursday, March 31, 2011

Sigh

The entire month of March gone without a single post. I have three excuses:

1) There are no excuses
2) I've become addicted to Pokemon White.
3) I'm in one of those "depressed" moods again.

I seem to have lost most of my writing spark. It's mostly due to excuse #'s 2 & 3. I stay up too late playing White or doing some other thing, get up too early for work, then be too tired to give a damn about anything else.

Hell, I'm more active on In 10 Words and my Twitter feed. I still say the Twitter feed is where lots of my good ideas have been going instead.

So, to tide you folks over while I retool my life and such, here's my reaction to playing a 3DS for the first time:

My mind was blown at the moment I registered my name:

I'll Just Leave This Video Here...

Proving that Rule 34 exists for everything, here's a live-action version for The Simpsons.

I'm still amazed that it took 22 years for an official porno parody to be made. Sure, drawings & animated Rule 34 have existed for years (I'm still shuddering at that thought), not to mention the times Marge posed for Maxim & Playboy.

Then there's the in-canon sex, which is a bit easier to swallow since it's mostly played for laughs, like whenever Homer & Marge decide to snuggle. Or the time Homer went for an erotic picture session. Or the time Marge worked in an Erotic Bakery. Or the episode "Natural Born Kissers." Or the entire "Hardcore Nudity" montage at the end of the 138th Episode Spectacular.

You all know how good I am at Simpsons-fu, I could do this all day. But I'm gonna go stab my brain with a Q-Tip now.

Filling Time...

Well, the writing of a really good entry has been taking longer than I thought it would, so here's a few videos to tide you over until then:

Last Entry of September!

There are a couple of thing that I wanted to write for today. Stuff happening in my life, completing the Summer Burger Challenge Entry, the passing of Greg Giraldo & Tony Curtis, some crap about Pogs.

But I think most of all, I want to celebrate that today, September 30th, marks the 50th anniversary of the Flintstones, America's Favorite Non-Yellow Cartoon Family!

And now, here are some videos showcasing the greatness of the truly landmark show!

Thanks for the decades of laughs, Flintstones!

Burger Challenge Post Coming Soon!

Sorry folks, but my entry for my Summer Burger Challenge Results is taking longer to write than I thought it would, it should be up by the end of the weekend.

Until then, enjoy this preview of burger images.

My battle with Writer's Block

I am currently suffering the most debilitating disease a blogger can have. No, it's not Starcraft II Fever, it's much worse than that:

WRITER'S BLOCK.

Yep. I finally have my writing energy back...but what the hell do I write about? I currently have a few blog posts on the back burner (like, say, a few Soundtracks For Summers and a few more things), but I feel like I want to type something new for now. But what?

That's where you come in, folks!

I hereby proclaim this entry the "Beaming For Bunnies Idea Drive™."  I'm asking anyone to submit ideas for me to write about.

You can submit ANYTHING. Anything at all. Nothing is too stupid or esoteric! You can submit your idea in the comments below, send me an email (beamingforbunnies@gmail.com), submit something at the Beaming For Bunnies Facebook Page, or tweet your idea at my twitter feed USING THE HASHTAG #IdeaDrive.

The people who send me the best ideas will, well, get me to write about them. Get cracking, folks!
